About Department

Department of Applied Science is a bridge that connects Pure Sciences with the engineering world. The department of Basic Engineering science is always been a key role to provide strength to all branches of engineering and fully committed to impart fundamental knowledge of basic sciences to develop problem solving skills. It involves Subjects like Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics and Engineering Chemistry, which are part of engineering undergraduate courses. Department started functioning since academic year 2008-2009. Application of these subjects in real life problems is called Engineering.

Message by HOD

The staff members are at the forefront in important activities like admission committee, sports, cultural and social programs. They help the students by counseling and guiding them in their academic and other difficulties. The faculty members are also functioning as resource person, members of staff selection committee. The department being the backbone of engineering offers a unique and complete program in the study of general scientific engineering and linguistic concepts, principles and phenomena with sufficient emphasis on computer aided analysis and industrial applications. It aims to provide a strong foundation for students of engineering and is one of the indispensable departments of the institute. Different type of activities like soft skill workshop, parents meet, Engineer’s day celebration etc is organized. The Chemistry and Physics laboratories are spacious and well equipped with modern instruments with research favorable.

Program Outcome(PO):

  • Engineering knowledge:Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • Environment and sustainabilityUnderstand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • Ethics:: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
